Boss Time.

I’ll start by sharing the sound that signalled the beginning of my summer. This was back in June a day after term ended, and after queuing in the rain outside Wembley from 8am onwards with two thousand other die-hards, the sweetness of the reward of finally seeing Springsteen emerge onto that stage from only ten metres back – knowing what awaited us that night, and for the next month or so of shows after a year’s absence and months of anticipation – that sort of sheer ecstatic happiness in life is rare and to be savoured. And the song he chose to open with – Land of Hope and Dreams – could hardly have been more intense in terms of soaring inspiration and emotion. They exploded on the count of three and didn’t look back until Bruce ended the biggest party-turned-spiritual gathering taking place that night in London, a full three hours and twenty minutes after they’d begun.
