I have little to say. I’m waiting for Sullivan to wake up in New York. I’m just shocked, like everyone, and immensely happy that this evil man’s pernicious influence on the world has come to an end today. I thought we would have to wait for his death.
His successor will, inevitably, still be tainted with guilt through association with the church’s history of child abuse. But there’s a chance that the Vatican will at least pick a less repressed gay man so the virulent homophobic discourse will be diluted.
If you have any inclination to feel sympathy for this man in his old age and illness, then read this. Remind yourself. Don’t ever forget who he is.
